There are a couple of different types within this category mainly traditional, power rod and gravity resistance. The traditional type is probably one of the most common that you will see many people’s homes. It generally has multiple stations and functions which allow you to do leg extension and leg curl you can also press and bench. Of course are a few more functions to this and also having the ability to have an adjustable weights stack will normally come as standard.
Power Rod uses flexible routes to help create resistance and weight load whilst you are doing your work. The routes, in a variety of stiffness which helped to create the various levels of resistance while you are working out.
Gravity resistance these types of home gyms will typically be very lightweight and portable. You will need to check the quality of these machines as they are made from and metal frame and sometimes the quality may not be the best. Don’t get me wrong these are ideal if you are starting out and her on a tight budget and not sure if this is something you will do for a long time.
Free Weights
Again these will fall into different categories like traditional, power rack and power cage. I’m sure you are very familiar with the traditional type because they usually contain one barbell a couple of drumbells and you will also have a selection of weight plates that are interchangeable when you need to add or reduce weight. You will normally also get a collar to keep the weights in place and prevent them from falling.
Power rack these will generally be used on home gyms and are targeted at people who want to do heavy exercise. It is easy for the user to adjust the weight.
Power cage are very similar to Power rack only with a slight difference. They have a rectangular side holding the barbell which means it is more difficult for the user to move as far forward or backwards as you can when using power rack equipment.
